Did you know that heart disease claims the lives of more Americans than any other cause of death? Watch this video that goes over the signs and symptoms of a heart attack to learn how you can determine if you’re having a heart attack.
Heart disease often develops from a buildup of plaque on the arterial walls. This plaque is typically made up of cholesterol and fat, which harden on the arteries, making it more difficult for them to supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart. In some cases, plaque may even break off from the arterial walls and cause a blockage of blood, which can lead to a heart attack. As the cardiovascular system weakens, and the heart is progressively less able to move oxygenated blood through the body, sufferers may feel chest pain or faintness.
